Part of the Z-NET Mission is to provide leadership and education for our community. Z-NET Uralla has three main focus areas for education:
-    Community education with events like training workshops on refrigeration and curtain making, information stalls at local events, and special information nights on topical energy matters. We also encourage any of our Shire residents to call in at the Z-NET Uralla Office, in the Community Centre on Hill Street. Click here for office hours and contact details.
-    Middle school science program with Uralla Central School, under development in conjunction with the CSIRO Science in Schools Program. Contact Sandra Eady for more details (, 02 6776 1394)
-    Pre-school program with local childcare provider which will be developed in February 2017 to coincide with energy review of the Centre.
We are keen to partner on other Education initiatives so if you have any great ideas please contact us at

Want to learn more about Uralla’s energy consumption and the options that might be part of a Zero Net Energy Town ?

This collection of postcards were created for the Uralla Shire (the Z-NET Case Study) to explain our context and options ~ reduce energy consumption, generate clean energy on-site or nearby, or to import clean energy.

The Z-NET Blueprint is the model created for towns and villages to be able to assess and design their Z-NET plan. It sets out the approach taken, the logic and principles applied in assessing options and the framework used for developing the implementation plan.

Z-NET Uralla is conducting exciting new activities for 2017, including a program with Uralla Central School for an action-learning project in Middle School. Ever wondered why some things use more electricity than others? And how to influence the energy they do use? There will be some great gadgets for the kids to install, tracking energy use in real time on the internet.
