Business Work Group
Z-NET Uralla is working in partnership with a broad range of businesses in our Shire to:
– improve energy efficiency through targeted intervention
– investigate the options for renewable energy generation
– establish ways of measuring progress
– and promote and build the business precinct as a Z-NET tourism destination.
The first step has been to listen to Uralla Shire businesses about their needs and work together on a plan for addressing these needs.
Z-NET Uralla is now sourcing the most appropriate expertise to support businesses (specialist refrigeration advice, retro fitting to improve building insulation, matching solar PV to business energy use patterns, window upgrades to reduce heat loss). This involves assisting businesses to assess technologies, understand costs, and estimate payback periods.
We will also assist with identifying suppliers and facilitate discussions with landlords (if required) to help explain the business case for building improvements or modification.
An important part of the business support is to follow up with businesses to identify and overcome barriers to implementation and to evaluate the performance of renewable energy from solar PV installation.
Z-NET Uralla is also showcasing how businesses are achieving energy efficiency and renewable generation goals, to promote Uralla as Destination Town for tourism and new residents. We are sharing our ideas, plans and outcomes with like-minded communities so others in the region can learn from the Z-NET Uralla journey.
